Protecting Our Team: Important Update on Email Impersonation
At MAUCARE Services, the safety, wellbeing and trust of our staff and the people we support are of the highest importance.
We are therefore sharing this update to raise awareness following a recent incident involving an individual impersonating a member of our senior leadership team.
What Happened
Several members of our staff received a message from an email address pretending to be from our Managing Director, Shweta Dowlot-Maulayah. The message attempted to initiate conversation and request information.
This message did not come from Shweta or anyone within the MAUCARE organisation.
This was an attempted impersonation scam.
The situation was identified and reported promptly by team members, and no personal data was shared.
We are grateful to those who brought this to our attention quickly.
Why We Are Sharing This
Impersonation scams are becoming increasingly common across many sectors, including health and social care.
These scams often:
- Use familiar names
- Copy conversational tone
- Create a sense of urgency
- Attempt to bypass standard communication channels
Raising awareness is an important and proactive step in preventing such attempts from being successful.
How We Communicate at MAUCARE
To protect our staff and clients, MAUCARE follows clear, regulated communication processes.
Please note:
- All official communication from the leadership team will come from a verified @maucare.co.uk email address.
- Operational instructions will be issued through the office phone line or our approved digital systems.
- We will never request personal banking details, passwords, or purchases to be made on behalf of the company through text or personal messaging platforms.
If a message appears unusual, unexpected, or is sent from an unfamiliar email address, we encourage staff and partners to verify before responding.
What To Do If You Receive a Suspicious Message
If any communication seems out of the ordinary:
- Do not reply.
- Do not share any information.
- Take a screenshot if helpful.
- Report it to the office immediately.
Our team will confirm whether the message is genuine.
Our Commitment
We remain committed to:
- Safeguarding our workforce and partner organisations
- Maintaining transparency across our communication channels
- Ensuring all staff feel confident and secure in reporting anything unusual
Trust and professionalism are central to the way we work.
We will continue to monitor and strengthen our digital safety practices across the organisation.
