Thought Leadership - The Beautiful Chaos of Leading with Heart
Let’s Be Honest — Leadership Sounds Glamorous Until You’re Actually Doing It
People imagine boardrooms, strategy meetings, and motivational speeches.
In reality, it’s more like juggling fire while trying to make sure the team, the business, and your sanity all survive the week.
I’ve learned that being a leader isn’t about knowing everything — it’s about pretending you do while Googling it later (and doing it better next time).
The Truth Nobody Tells You About Leadership
Leadership is messy.
It’s emotional.
And sometimes, it’s sitting in your car after a long day saying, “Why did I sign up for this again?”
There are days I feel like I’m building an empire.
And others where I’m just building my patience.
But through it all, I’ve realised something powerful —
leadership is less about control, and more about courage.
Courage to have tough conversations.
Courage to make mistakes.
And courage to keep going when everything feels impossible (and your coffee machine has given up too).
Thought Leadership: What I’m Really Trying to Create
I’m not here to “run a company.”
I’m here to change how care feels.
At MAUCARE, I want to build a culture where:
-
Everyone feels they belong.
-
People can speak up — even if their voice shakes.
-
And where leadership isn’t reserved for those with titles, but for those with initiative, kindness, and grit.
Because real leadership isn’t about power.
It’s about purpose.
It’s not about having followers.
It’s about creating more leaders.
Leading with Heart (and a Sense of Humour)
Some people say, “Don’t mix emotions with business.”
Well… I’ve tried. And failed miserably.
Because let’s face it — in care, emotions come free with the job!
If someone’s crying, we feel it.
If someone’s laughing, we join in.
And if someone’s struggling, we show up — even when it’s inconvenient.
That’s not weakness. That’s humanity.
And I believe that’s what the world — and leadership — needs more of.
So, What Kind of Leader Am I?
I’m the kind who believes in second chances.
The kind who gives tough love with a side of sarcasm.
And the kind who still forgets her coffee on the roof of the car sometimes (true story).
But more than anything, I’m the kind of leader who believes that great leadership starts with good intentions — and grows through continuous reflection.
Because the truth is — leadership isn’t a job title.
It’s a daily decision.
To show up.
To care.
And to try again… even when yesterday didn’t go to plan.
My Thought for Today
If you ever feel like you’re failing as a leader — you’re probably doing it right.
Because real leaders aren’t perfect.
They’re progress in motion.
So here’s to all of us trying to make a difference —
one decision, one heart, one laugh at a time.
