Before Care: Preparing with Compassion, Not Pressure

The time before care starts is often filled with uncertainty. Families may be navigating a new diagnosis, recovering from hospital discharge, or beginning to notice a loved one struggling with daily tasks. Emotions range from anxiety and guilt to confusion about where to begin.

At this stage, MAUCARE focuses on education, advocacy, and personalised guidance — not sales or pressure.

Our approach includes:

  • Free, no-obligation consultations to explore your situation, needs, and care options with honesty and warmth.
  • Clear explanations of how care funding works — including guidance on local authority support, NHS Continuing Healthcare, self-funding options, and benefits that may apply.
  • Signposting to community resources, charities, and voluntary organisations. We collaborate with trusted partners, such as Carers First, Imago, Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK, and local hospices, to ensure families access the right support — even if they don’t choose us.
  • Pre-care planning sessions, including help with preparing the home for care, understanding what to expect from carers, and involving the whole family in shared decision-making.
  • Care readiness assessments to determine when and how care should start — including risk reviews and well-being considerations for the person receiving care.

Our aim is to empower families to make informed, confident decisions that are right for their circumstances — at their pace, with our support.
